University of the Philippines, Diliman, Quezon City, February 23, 2006 – PSAP-PAROLA and the UP Jorge Vargas Museum and Filipiniana Research Center opened “Kuhang Marino: Images of Filipino Seafarers - a photo documentary and poetry exhibition”.
Later, poems published in Parola were read at the Conspiracy Bar Cafe in Q.C. (owned by pop artist Joey Ayala), under the theme “Tulang Marino”. Several seafarers made it to this event. Also in attendance were professors and poets from the UP Creative Writing Center, led no less by the national artist Rio Alma, or Virgilio Almario, who was jokingly introduced as Virgilio ‘Almarino’.
Thanks to a great public reception, Dr. Ana Labrador, Museum Curator, has set her sights to a nation-wide tour of the exhibition project. (reported by: Atty Sed Santiago)
